    Well, today we can see the effects of trade with Africa here in the US everyday. The major trade resource Africa had for the US were slaves. Right there you can see the influence trade with Africa had in the United States. Not only did slavery provide cheap labor for the Southern US to become prosperous and made the US an economic power - but later the political effect of slavery eventually led to the Civil War. Look around the United States and there is a decent percentage of black people who were descendants of slaves (that percentage had greatly been diluted because of mass immigration from all over the world).
